But maybe not as bad as a Korea-Japan game? lol
The last time North Korea's footballers participated in the World Cup, they were the pride of the continent and the darlings of football fans around the world.
In the 1966 tournament held in England, their side of amateur players — given 1,000-to-1 odds of winning the competition — made it to the quarterfinals, famously beating European powerhouse Italy along the way. It's a feat that was not matched by any Asian country until the 2002 World Cup, when the hosts, South Korea, reached the semis.Brig Taylorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01239367207223067978noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2680392773660764727.post-19392768027106146132009-06-09T21:38:56.288-07:002009-06-09T21:38:56.288-07:00I was following the same story line. The South Korean team has some notable players playing professionally in Europe which gives the team legitimacy in international competitions. I have never heard of one N. Korean player in a European professional league, I didn't even know they had a team for that matter. I hope they qualify for the World Cup in 2010. We would all get a better look at what is going on in that country. I want to see the game when the North and South play each other. A barnburner for sure as we say in the sports worldJosephhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07534873493320086508noreply@blogger.com
